Back in the last month, Vivo has introduced the iQOO 8 Pro as its new “gaming flagship” for the second half of 2021. The device went official in China with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ bringing the best possible performance in the market. The device is expected to hit global markets soon, but we’re not sure how long it will take.
Apparently, the iQOO 8 Pro is giving its first steps in the direction of a global release. Today, a handset under the “vivo l2017” passed through the Geekbench website running a Qualcomm SoC with a “Lahaina” codename. This code stands for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ SoC. Apparently, iQOO is not doing big changes in the performance given with the global variant. It’s sporting the SD888+ platform and still carries the very same moniker as the Chinese variant. With the iQOO 7 series, the company changed its strategy with global markets. The true iQOO 7 is called iQOO 7 Legend, whereas the vanilla iQOO 7 is just a rebranded iQOO Neo 5.
The Geekbench benchmark alone can’t say much about the iQOO 8 Pro release in global markets. Apparently, the company is already testing the variants for the global markets. We expect the iQOO 8 series to hit some markets in Europe, and it will obviously arrive in India. So far, the Asian country has been a key market for Vivo’s iQOO sub-brand.
