MediaTek Dimensity 2000 Smartphones To Come In Early 2022

MediaTek Dimensity

Recently, we learned that the next-gen MediaTek Dimensity 2000 chip will be based on the 4nm process. Also, it has every chance to become the first mass-produced chip with this manufacturing process.

As one of the Weibo bloggers posted, the 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 2000 chip will be manufactured by TSMC. Also, he said that MediaTek had distributed some samples of the chip to partners for internal testing. If everything goes well, the first smartphones with this chip onboard will appear on the market in early 2022.

Apart from this, we knew that the Dimensity 2000 will adopt a new ARM V9 architecture as well as a new Cortex-X2 core. Thus, the performance of this SoC will not differ from that of the Qualcomm chips coming in 2022. In comparison to the Cortex X1 core used by Snapdragon 888, the performance of the X2 core will also increase by at least 17%. The power consumption is expected to reduce by 10%, which means that the energy efficiency is comprehensively better. Furthermore, the performance improvement of the A710 core and the A510 core is also very significant.

Gizchina News of the week

As for the graphics, it will be stronger than that of the Snapdragon 888, and its power consumption will be much better. This flagship processor is not only stronger than the current Dimensity 1200, it saves more power and is stronger than the Snapdragon 888 series.

How Much Will Cost Dimensity 2000 Phones?

MediaTek’s 4nm processor will be significantly more expensive than its current high-end 5G smartphone processor. They are going to be priced at around US$80. According to some speculations, the price of phones coming with the Dimensity 2000 will be around 3000 yuan ($464).

Agree that MediaTek has always been in the shadow of Qualcomm. Well, it was until last year, when the company introduced a new line for flagship chips, Dimensity. In the 3G and 4G era, we were mainly seeing MediaTek’s chips used in entry-level smartphones. So mid-range and premium smartphones costing above 3,000 yuan ($465) were mostly using Qualcomm Snapdragon chips. Now, in the 5G era, with the current Dimensity 1200 series, the price tag of MediaTek 5G chip-based smartphones is also 2000 yuan ($310) – 3000 yuan ($465). Due to them, in the second quarter of 2021, the company’s revenue almost doubled. So we have to say that the Dimensity 2000 has got a good legacy.

According to supply chain news, MediaTek is still designing and developing new chips based on TSMC’s 3nm process. They will be the first to come with a new process as well.
