Realme introduced the original Realme GT 5G in March this year as its first 2021 flagship smartphone with Snapdragon 888. Later in the same month, the company disclosed the Realme GT Neo as a cost-effective smartphone for those who couldn’t pay the GT price but that still needed flagship-like performance. The Realme GT Neo had the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC at the helm. Several months have passed, and the Realme GT series grew in number with the addition of the Realme GT Master Edition and Master Explorer Edition. Now, Realme is gearing up to introduce the sequel for the GT Neo, dubbed Realme GT Neo2.
Unlike its predecessor, the Realme GT Neo2 will come with a Qualcomm chipset, namely the Snapdragon 870 SoC. While technically similar, the Snapdragon 870 still takes advantage of the MediaTek Dimensity 1200. Therefore, users will already feel an incremental upgrade with the newer model. After many rumors, today, Realme’s Chinese Weibo account has officially confirmed the Realme GT Neo2 existence. As rumored before, it may end up being called Realme GT Neo Gaming in some markets. That probably includes India, where the original GT Neo arrived as Realme X7 Max 5G. We don’t think that Realme will launch the Neo2 in a country that didn’t get the first model. It will probably land in India as Realme GT Neo Gaming.

The Chinese market, on the other hand, will likely get the device with its original Realme GT Neo2 moniker.
Realme GT Neo2 / GT Neo Gaming specifications
As per the rumors, the Realme GT Neo2 will carry a 6.62-inch Full HD+ display with 120 Hz resolution. Under the hood, the handset packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC with up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of Internal Storage. The device has a triple rear camera setup with a 64 MP main camera, 8 MP ultrawide, and a 2 MP depth or macro shooter. That is basically the same setup found on other devices. The device will have a punch-hole camera with a 16 MP selfie snapper and will have a 4,500 mAh and 5,000 mAh battery. It will run Android 11 OS with Realme UI 2.0 on top.
According to the 3C certification listing, the Realme GT Neo2 will charge its battery with 65W fast charging. That’s not a big surprise as most Realme flagships have this charging capability.
We don’t know exactly when the company will disclose the new Realme GT Neo2. This could happen late this month or early in October. For now, there is no clue, but the confirmation confirms its arrival is close.
Realme fans will be busy in the coming days as the company is launching two new Realme 8 smartphones – Realme 8i and Realme 8s. The company will probably launch the Realme Pad at the same event.
