Earlier today, Apple officially announced that it will hold an autumn new product launch conference on September 15th. According to the company, it will release a plethora of devices in this event. Nevertheless, we expect the iPhone 13 series to be the protagonist of this launch event. From the reports so far, the iPhone 13 series will be the first iPhone to come with a screen refresh rate above 60Hz. However, the latest report shows that only the iPhone 13 Pro Max will come with a refresh rate above 60Hz.
The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini will not even have the same display as the Pro series. They will not support a refresh rate above 60Hz. However, for the Pro models, they will use a screen that is completely the same at the hardware level. This series will use a high-refresh-rate ProMotion screen and there will be significant upgrades to the video shooting function (supports ProRes and video shooting in portrait mode). The Pro series will also use Samsung’s 120Hz LTPO OLED panel, support a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and bring a smart refresh rate. The smart refresh rate will ensure that the refresh rate of the screen can automatically switch between 1-120Hz depending on the usage of the screen. This will be the first time that the iPhone will have a screen refresh rate above 60Hz.

iPhone 13 Pro may not support a high refresh rate
However, because the iPhone 13 Pro has a smaller battery, Apple will limit the screen refresh rate of the iPhone 13 Pro model through software at the system level in exchange for better battery life.
However, there has been a lot of uproar to this decision from Apple. Although it is not confirmed, users are not happy about it. Netizens are suggesting that Apple should add a toggle to switch from high refresh rate mode to low refresh rate mode. There should also be a warning of battery drain at the high refresh rate mode. This way, the company will leave users with a choice. To protect those who know nothing about refresh rate, the default settings should be the 60Hz option.
According to reports, the Apple iPhone 13 series still retains the complex Face ID structured light components in the bangs area. However, the position of the earpiece has been moved to the top of the screen and placed in parallel with other components. This modification in the design is necessary to keep the notch space as small as possible.
