Google will release its next flagship series, the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro with its own, self-developed Tensor SoC instead of Qualcomm’s SoC offerings.
The company will most likely launch the Pixel 6 series in October and, ahead of the launch, today the Pro version visited Geekbench, a benchmarking site that has now revealed the configurations of the new SoC.
The Pixel 6 Pro Geekbench listing suggests that the Google Tensor SoC will make use of a tri-cluster CPU configuration with two CPU cores that will work at 2.84GHz, with two other cores clocking in at 2.25GHz, and four final CPU cores running at 1.80GHz.
What Do the Reports Suggest?
The reports further suggest that these CPUs could likely be Cortex’s X1, Cortex-A78, and Cortex-A55. For those unaware, it was tipped last month that the Tensor SoC could really be the 5nm Samsung Exynos 9855 chip, codenamed Whitechapel which was never released.
Other reports have suggested that this Tensor chip likely made use of the same codename. Going by the Geekbench listing, we can finally see the Google Pixel series return to flagship ways, since the device comes with 12GB of RAM and will run Android 12.
Gizchina News of the week
Due to the presence of the aforementioned two Cortex-X1 cores, the Tensor SoC will likely beat out the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 or 888+ and Samsung’s Exynos 2100 SoC.
What Can We Expect from the Pixel 6 Pro?
In terms of what we can expect from the Google Pixel 6 Pro, it will probably make use of a 6.7-inch OLED display with a resolution of Quad HD+ and a refresh rate of 120Hz.
The device could feature a 12MP front snapper, while towards the rear it will have a triple-camera stack with a primary 50MP sensor with a 48MP secondary telephoto sensor and a third 12MP ultra-wide sensor.
Other tipped features include the presence of 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. The device will draw power from a 5000 mAh battery with support for 33W wired charging and 23W wireless charging.
Earlier this month, a report from Twitter leakster, @Jon Prosser hinted that the Google Pixel 6 series will be available for pre-sale on October 19.
Furthermore, his report also suggested that the first outright sale for this device will take place on October 28. However, it is important to note that we still don’t know the launch date for this series.
