iPhone 13 series 12MP camera supports Cinema mode for the first time

Apple unveiled the iPhone 13 series a few hours ago and the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini still uses the same dual rear cameras. However, the arrangement of the sensors now has a new diagonal design. The camera specification is still a 12MP wide-angle + 12 MP ultra-wide-angle lenses. However, the wide-angle main camera brings a larger bottom sensor this time. The light input increases by 47%, the pixel area also increases to 1.7μm. Furthermore, the aperture is f/1.5, and both smartphones use a 7P lens. It is worth mentioning that the entire iPhone 13 series comes with a sensor-shift sensor displacement technology. Also, for the first time, the iPhone 13 series supports the new movie mode (Cinema Mode).

The movie mode or Cinema Mode is basically the same as Portrait Mode for videos. It blurs the background and leaves only the subject in sharp focus. The Pro models support the ProRes codec. In some sense, it is like the RAW mode, allowing users a lot more flexibility when color grading. Lastly, the LiDAR sensor remains exclusive for the Pro models.

The iPhone 13 series also supports Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby colour grading for each frame. The ultra-wide-angle lens has also been upgraded, it has a new sensor, 5P lens, f/2.4 aperture, and 120° viewing angle.
