Fairphone 4 5G phone has been floating around the rumor mill for a long time, and now, new renders have surfaced online. The Dutch-based social enterprise company has a reputation for developing environmentally friendly smartphones. If rumors making the rounds online are anything to go by, Fairphone is gearing up to launch a new smartphone. While nothing is set in stone yet, some of the purported smartphone’s key specifications have surfaced online. Last month, the FairPhone 4 5G smartphone arrived on the Wi-Fi Alliance certification website.
This suggested that the phone will launch soon. Furthermore, the sustainable smartphones maker is known for making the easiest to repair handsets in the world. With the FairPhone 4 5G, the company will be taking a major leap as far as the hardware department is concerned. The upcoming phone could be the much-awaited Fairphone 3 successor, according to some reports. Since the Fairphone 3 was launched about two years ago, this speculation could prove to be true.
New Renders Surface Online
The company is on the verge of unveiling its first 5G-ready smartphone in the form of the Fairphone 4 5G. The phone’s listing on the Wi-Fi Alliance website divulged key details and confirmed that it will support 5G connectivity. Furthermore, the company could up the ante in terms of specifications starting with the Fairphone 4. This could propel Fairphone among the mainstream handset makers. Meanwhile, WinFuture and noted leaker L4yzRw have teamed up to reveal some more specifications of the upcoming smartphone.

Expected Changes & Improvements
Aside from divulging key specs of the phone, the German tech site has shared some leaked renders. These renders suggest that the phone will be available in two color options including matte green and matte gray. It could arrive in other colorways at the time of launch. The rear panel isn’t similar to the back design of the Fairphone 3. It has a rectangular camera module that houses three camera sensors. However, the phone’s predecessor came with a single 12MP camera.
The screen features a waterdrop notch to accommodate the front shooter. Regrettably, details about the camera specifications are still scarce. However, the Fairphone 4 5G could house a 48MP rear-mounted camera like the Fairphone 3+ smartphone. Interestingly, there’s no rear-mounted fingerprint sensor on the upcoming handset like the Fairphone 3. The front design doesn’t seem to house a fingerprint scanner either. It is still unclear whether the Fairphone 4 will have an under-display fingerprint scanner.
Fairphone 4 5G Specifications (Expected)
According to the previous listing, the Fairphone 4 could sport a 6.3-inch display. Furthermore, it could ship with 6GB of RAM and offer 128GB or 256GB of onboard storage capacity. Details about the chipset are still few and far between. However, an earlier report from WinFuture shed light on WLAN firmware numbers that indicated that the new phone could pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC. Fairphone and Qualcomm have collaborated in the past.
Although Fairphones offer sufficiently good specs, it costs a bomb. The high price is for easy reparability of the handsets. A previously leaked listing suggests that the Fairphone 4 could retail for 639 Swiss francs for the lower-end model. This converts roughly to about $700. The price for the 256GB storage model is still unknown. We will need to wait for an official confirmation regarding the official launch date and international availability of the Fairphone 4 5G smartphone.
