Honor Image Engine
Honor CEO, Zhao Ming said that based on in-depth thinking on the development concept of mobile photography, Honor launches a new self-developed HONOR Image Engine.
It can heterogeneous different chip platforms, plug-in integration of chip capabilities, and maximize the capabilities of software and hardware. By deconstructing different high-level algorithms, separating the strategy engine and reconstructing the imaging process, this imaging engine can maximize the efficiency. Also, it combines the software and hardware under different platforms to integrate and create end-to-end imaging capabilities.
Relying on the HONOR image engine, it can carry out multi-dimensional and multi-modal information collection. Then, based on Honor’s powerful AI computing photography algorithm, it can create an image experience beyond the perception of the human eye. So we can say that HONOR Image Engine is both an information collection system and a computational photography platform.
Honor Magic 3 Still Exclusively Uses This Tech
Thanks to this technology, the Honor Magic 3 series realizes the fusion of color main camera + ultra-wide-angle lens. So it can break through the limitations of the ultra-wide-angle sensor commonly seen in the industry. When taking ultra-wide-angle photos, it can take two shots with the main camera and the ultra-wide-angle lens at the same time.
Subsequently, through the powerful computing power, the engine merges the two pictures with each other. The higher-pixel picture taken by the main camera will fill in the details of the central area. This can increase the central sharpness by 80% and enhance the ultra-wide-angle photo quality.
Camera Fusion
In order to avoid the blunt transition after fusion, the Honor Magic 3 series also uses an intelligent smoothing algorithm. The latter can intelligently adjust the smooth area to avoid blunt transitions, making the fused photos look more natural and smooth, as if they were originally a picture.
In addition, the Honor Magic 3 series also supports the fusion of color main camera + telephoto lens. Just like the fusion with ultra-wide angle, the sharpness of the central part of the main camera can be improved through the telephoto lens. And it can improve the image shooting sharpness of 54~94mm focal length. This greatly increases the image quality of the portrait focal length. The sharpness can be increased by up to 180%.
