Huawei has been coping with the U.S. ban and this is significantly affecting the company’s smartphone business. As of now, the Chinese manufacturer can not use 5G chips. This is why its latest flagship series, Huawei P50 only support 4G. Of course, this is affecting the performance of this smartphone in the market. With flagship smartphones from the likes of Xiaomi, Oppo, Apple, and others, Huawei really has no chance in the smartphone market. However, this does not mean that the company will exit the smartphone market. About a week from now, the company will hold a launch conference in Vienna, Austria. This event will take place on October 21st and some netizens had hopes that the company will announce the Mate 50 series.
However, Huawei has now officially confirmed that there will be no Mate 50 series in October. According to the Chinese manufacturer,Ā the protagonist of the event is actually the nova series. These devices are expected to be the Huawei nova 9 series which is already official in other markets.
The speculation of an October launch for the Huawei Mate 50 series was due to a report that this device will arrive in Q4 2021 with a 120Hz display.Ā However, many sources ha since refuted this claim. Since the Huawei P50 series arrived in July this year, the Huawei Mate 50 series will not launch this year. At the earliest, this flagship series will arrive in theĀ first quarter of next year.
Gizchina News of the week
Huawei Mate 50 is currently in testing
According to popular Weibo leakster, @DCS, Huawei is currently testing the Huawei Mate 50 series. He also claims that this device will use the model sm8425. This suggests that the company may use the latest Snapdragon 898 on the Mate 50 series. Obviously, this chip will be the 4G version just like with the P50 series.
The blogger did not directly say that he is referring to the Huawei Mate 50 series in his latest report. However, he called this smartphone a “business flagship”. Considering that Huawei does not release many flagships presently, he is most likely referring to the Huawei Mate 50 series.
According to the speculations so far, the Huawei Mate 50 series will use the same LTPO display as the iPhone 13 Pro series. Furthermore, this display will support the adaptive refresh rateĀ which does not only achieves a 120Hz high refresh rate but also saves power.
In addition to the 4G Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 SoC, this device may also have the Kirin 9000 version. The Snapdragon 898 is a flagship processor that uses Samsungās 4nm manufacturing process. This chip uses a 1 + 3 + 4 architecture. It has one 3.0GHz Cortex X2 large core, three 2.5GHz Cortex A78 large core, and four 1.79GHz Cortex A55 small cores. On AnTuTu, this chip will most likely exceed one million for the first time.
