2nd generation Huawei VR Glass will launch soon, succeeding the original Huawei VR Glass that the Chinese tech company unveiled in 2019. After announcing its first-ever virtual reality glasses, Huawei launched the VR Glass 6DOF Game Set with improved features and 360-degrees controllers in October last year. Regrettably, even after more than a year, the new model hasn’t gone on sale. During the launch event, Huawei assured that developers will be able to get their hands on the device by December 18, 2020.
Furthermore, the company claimed that its VR Glass will go on sale starting from April 2021. Much to the chagrin of those waiting to get their hands on the device, that has not happened yet. Last year’s VR Glass carried a price tag of 2999 Yuan (about $470). Previous reports suggest that the virtual reality glasses weigh just 166 grams, and have a 26.6mm thick lens system. This was a major leap over 2020 VR headsets as far as lightness is concerned. In fact, Huawei got a World VR Industry Conference Innovation Gold Award for this in 2019.

If rumors making the rounds online are anything to go by, the new VR Glass will go official soon. This shred of information comes from noted leaker Teme (@RODENT950). The tipster took to his Twitter account earlier this week to share this information. Huawei is reportedly gearing up to announce a new foldable phone and some other products before this year comes to an end. So, the company could be on the verge of unveiling its new VR headset at the imminent launch event. The VR headset was first showcased at the World VR Industry Conference Cloud Summit last year.
