Apple has just released the new Apple M1 Pro and Apple M1 Max processors last week alongside a new Apple MacBook Pro refresh. The new laptops came in distinct configurations with Apple M1 Pro and M1 Max processors, and distinct display sizes. Now, the company seems to be shifting its attention to the MacBook Air. The consumer-centric lineup is getting a refresh by 2022. According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, Apple is working on new models for the MacBook Air lineup and it is expected to come with the biggest redesign since 2010.
In the latest edition of his Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman talks about how Apple does not have any major announcements planned for the rest of 2021. The launch of the new MacBook Pro models was successful, and the company is receiving a lot of positive feedback for upgrades made on the new lineup of premium laptops.
Gizchina News of the week
Apple is gearing up to introduce a new MacBook Air lineup with a major redesign
The company now will work in the lineup for common users under the MacBook Air lineup. The new laptop will be launched in around 6 to 8 months and will bring a major redesign. The ultra-thin laptop will reportedly have a design language similar to the 24-inch Apple M1 iMacs. They will come with white bezels around the display and loads of color options. For now, it’s unclear if Apple will bring the notch design to the new Apple MacBook Air, but that does not seem to be the case here. Apparently, the notch will remain something for the Apple MacBook Pro lineup. It was one of the most iconic aspects of the lineup. So far, we haven’t seen any notched laptop and the MacBook Pro series is a first. We assume that it will also be the only for the time being, as other companies should probably jump to the punch-role rather than to the notched design. However, we can still expect anything as Apple has the power of influence.
Gurman also expects the Cupertino-based company to introduce a larger iMac with an improved Apple Silicon. FOr now, it’s unclear if it will whether be the Apple M2 or the Apple M1 Pro or M1 Max. The MacBook Air 2022 will bring an Apple M2 SoC. However, it will be slower than the Pro and Max variants that arrived this month. The event may also serve to introduce the Mac mini, a new iPhone SE, and a new iPad Pro.
