Amazon Removes Email Linking From Alexa Features List

Amazon Alexa email linking

Everyone knows Amazon’s Alexa. It’s one of the first and the best virtual assistants out there. The reason why and how it could make a name is that there is a wide ranger of useful features. But users are not aware of most of them, and they are using only a small part of them. Say, do you know that it can access your email? If not, then you should know that there is an option to link Alexa with your email, and it will read them out loud. Unfortunately, Amazon is going to remove this feature in a few days. On Monday, Amazon will unlink all email accounts from Alexa.

Amazon’s Email Linking Feature

Recently, TechHive reported that users on Reddit and Twitter had already got emails informing them of the change.

“We’re writing to inform you that beginning on November 8th, 2021, email access will no longer be supported for Alexa customers,” Amazon explained to customers in an email blast. “This means you will no longer be able to link your Gmail or Microsoft email account with Alexa to browse or manage your email, and any linked email account(s) will automatically be unlinked.”

The emails informed that there would be some changes related to email features. As the company said, they will include email routines as well as notifications. Apart from this, Alexa will have no option to monitor third-party packages. Say, prior to this, the Amazon virtual assistant could access your email, scan the inbox for shipment notifications, and inform you. However, it seems you still can track any Amazon order. For this, you just have to say “Alexa, where’s my stuff?” and it will try to find out when your Amazon packages ought to arrive. Simply put Amazon will keep the package tracking feature if you order it via Amazon.
