Qualcomm will officially release its latest flagship mobile processor, Snapdragon 898, at the end of this month. The company announced that the Snapdragon Tech Summit 2021 will hold between November 30 and December 2. Judging from the recent reports, manufacturers including Honor, Xiaomi, Vivo, Samsung, Motorola, Oppo, Huawei, ZTE, Asus, Black Shark, Lenovo, Nubia, Realme, OnePlus, Sharp, and other manufacturers all have the opportunity to be in the first batch. Right now, there is even a competition for which manufacturer will be the first to use this chip. While the first smartphone to use this chip may be a Xiaomi device, the first tablet will be Samsung’s.
According to reports, a new Samsung device with the model SM-X808U appeared in the Geekbench database recently. The report claims that this device should be the 5G version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+. The data shows that the device comes with a chip with the highest frequency of 3GHz. Based on previous reports, this should be the Snapdragon 898 flagship chip that Qualcomm is yet to release.

Snapdragon 898 SoC on GeekBench
The Snapdragon 898 SoC will use Samsung’s 4nm manufacturing process. In addition, this chip will use a 1+3+4 three-cluster architecture design. The super-large core is Cortex X2, and the main frequency hit 3.0GHz. Also, the main frequency of the large core is 2.5GHz, and the main frequency of the small core is 1.79GHz. The graphic card is the Adreno 730 and X65 baseband (downlink 10Gbps). In terms of performance, Snapdragon 898 is said to be about 20% higher than Snapdragon 888.
The Snapdragon 898 has a single-core running score of about 1300 and a multi-core running score of about 4000. This time Samsung’s device only has a single-core 1211 and a multi-core 3193, which is a huge difference in multi-core results. An earlier Weibo leak shows that the Snapdragon 898 will be 20 times faster than its predecessor.
At present, there is not much specific information about the device. However, there are speculations that it may come with a watered-down version of the Snapdragon 898. The performance will be lower than the flagship version, but for tablet devices, the performance is sufficient to support daily use. The emphasis on tablets is not on the processor. The display and battery are probably of more importance for tablets than the processor. However, this is relative as users will have different preferences.
The first batch of devices with Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 will hit the road around mid-December. Most of the leaks so far are of smartphones. This is the first report of a tablet that will use this flagship processor.
