The much-awaited Oppo foldable phone has been spotted on a patent website, sporting a design that corroborates earlier leaks. If rumors making the rounds online prove to be true, the Chinese consumer electronics company will unveil its first-ever foldable phone later this month. While nothing is set in stone yet, the Oppo Foldable smartphone has been subject to several leaks and speculations lately.
Oppo showed off a prototype smartphone with a foldable display back in 2019. Regrettably, the company has remained mum on its plan to unveil its foldable device. Aside from that, Oppo has kept details about its foldable phone under wraps. However, the company has given its huge fanbase a glimpse of a rollable smartphone with the Oppo X 2021 moniker. Nevertheless, launch, pricing, and other details about Oppo’s first-ever foldable phone are still few and far between.
Oppo Foldable Phone Arrives On A Patent Website
Those waiting with bated breath to get their hands on the Oppo Foldable phone, might not have to wait too long. The Chinese smartphone brand will reportedly take the wraps off its first foldable handset in November. According to an earlier report, the foldable phone will launch later this month alongside the Oppo Reno7 series smartphones. However, it is worth noting that it is still unclear whether Oppo Fold will be the final name of the hotly-anticipated smartphone.
Gizchina News of the week
While Oppo has neither denied nor confirmed these speculations, 91mobiles has found that Oppo has filed a new patent for a foldable phone on CNIPA. Interestingly, the phone’s design seen in the patent images seems to bear a striking resemblance to the aforementioned prototype. According to the publication, this could be the first foldable phone from Oppo. The patent images give us a clearer view of the foldable smartphone’s outward appearance.
Design & Other Key Details
The right edge of the foldable device seems to house the power button, as well as the volume up/down buttons. There are no buttons on the left side of the device because it houses the phone\s exterior display. The smartphone’s external folding display seems to adopt the same design as the Huawei Mate X series. Aside from that, the phone houses a vertically-aligned camera setup at the back. Although nothing is mentioned, the camera setup appears tall enough to accommodate at least three cameras.
The top portion of the foldable device features a SIM tray. Meanwhile, the device’s speakers and the USB Type-C charging port are available at the bottom. These are the only shreds of information about the Oppo Fold available at the moment. Furthermore, Oppo could have included several changes in the final design. In other words, the Oppo Fold could barely resemble the prototype Oppo showed last year. Therefore, readers should take these speculations with a grain of salt until Oppo officially confirms or denies them.
