Xiaomi 12 Ultra and Xiaomi 12 Ultra Enhanced smartphones’ key specifications have popped up online ahead of launch. The Chinese tech behemoth will be taking the wraps off its Xiaomi 12 series smartphones next month. Earlier reports indicated that the upcoming series will feature two models. These include the Xiaomi 12 and the Xiaomi 12 Ultra. Now, a recently surfaced report suggests that Xiaomi will be unveiling another handset dubbed, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra Enhanced.
The hotly-anticipated Xiaomi 12 series has been subject to a lot of speculations lately. Earlier this week, a report indicated that experts from Leica are working on the camera of the and Xiaomi 12 Ultra smartphone. This collaboration between Xiaomi and Leica was originally reported by noted Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station. Moreover, DCS shared a picture of the Mi 11 Ultra, with the Leica logo visible on an additional miniature display. This implied the Xiaomi 12 Ultra could house Leica optics.

According to a report from Xiaomiui, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra and Xiaomi 12 Ultra Enhanced smartphones’ code adopt the same source and ROM. Furthermore, the devices seem to carry codenames Thor and Loki respectively. Likewise, the vanilla Xiaomi 12 Ultra is codenamed, Zeus. The aforesaid smartphones will pack Qualcomm Snapdragon SM8450 (Snapdragon 898) SoC under the hood. If earlier speculations prove to be true, this will be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

In the photography department, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra series could house a 50MP Samsung GN5 main camera. On the downside, these are highly unlikely to house 200MP cameras. Aside from that, the aforesaid smartphones will reportedly feature three more 48MP sensors that offer 2x, 5x and 10x zoom support. If the leaked camera app is anything to go by, the smartphones will boast a mammoth five-camera setup. As far as zoom is concerned, it is likely to range between 0.5x to 120x.

Moreover, it is worth mentioning here that the 120x zoom will be for photos. However, the phones will support 15x zoom for video recording as well. Aside from that, both handsets are likely to come with a next-generation in-display fingerprint scanner. Regrettably, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra series could go official only in China. The phones are likely to launch in Q2 2022, just like the Mi 11 Ultra. To recall, Xiaomi‘s Redmi brand’s general manager Lu Weibing recently shed light on plans to tighten its grip in the Chinese smartphone segment.
