Tianfeng International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo released his latest research report. The research report pointed out that both iPhone 14 and Apple head-mounted displays support Wi-Fi 6E. This move will probably drive more competing products to adopt Wi-Fi 6E. Previously, Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that Wi-Fi 6/6E/7 is the key to the “wirelessization of Metaverse devices”. Furthermore, the Wi-Fi supply chain will be the main winner in the potential market for billions of head-mounted display devices within 10 years.
Ming-Chi Kuo points out in an earlier report that less than 5% of smartphones and laptops currently on sale support the latest Wi-Fi 6. However, if the head-mounted display device wants to optimize the wireless experience, it needs to support the latest Wi-Fi specifications. Wi-Fi 6/6E/7 and 5G millimeter waves are the most suitable connection technologies for head-mounted display devices. Taking into account the battery life, it is predicted that within 2-3 years, most wireless head-mounted display devices will only support the latest Wi-Fi specifications. In 2-3 years, high-end head-mounted display devices will be equipped with the latest Wi-Fi specifications and 5G millimeter waves.

Meta, Apple, and Sony to dominate the meta-universe device market
Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that Meta, Apple, and Sony will dominate the meta-universe device market in 2022. These companies will be the most influential brands in the meta-universe market next year. Meta, Apple, and Sony will launch new head-mounted display devices in 2H22, 4Q22, and 2Q22 respectively. Both Meta and Apple’s new models support Wi-Fi 6E, and Sony’s PS 5 VR device supports Wi-Fi 6.
According to reports, the number of frequency bands which Wi-Fi 6E support is 2–3 times that of Wi-Fi 6. If it is a 3×3/4×4 MIMO design, each frequency band requires 2–4 LTCCs, so the LTCC usage of Wi-Fi 6E will increase by 10-20 or more than 20 LTCCs. This will make LTCC supply may become tight again in 2022.
There have been a couple of reports regarding the upcoming iPhone 14 series. However, this series has many months before its official launch. Thus, there is a lot of room for things to change. We can not be so certain about any information regarding the iPhone 14 series for now. We have to wait a few months for some concrete information to hit the web

LTCC (Low-Temperature Co-fired Ceramic LTCC) technology, is an advanced passive integration and hybrid circuit packaging technology. It can encapsulate the three major passive components (including resistors, capacitors, and inductors) and various passive components (such as filters, transformers, etc.) in a multilayer wiring substrate. It also combines with active components (such as Power MOS, transistors, IC circuit modules, etc.) and integrates into a complete circuit system.
