Today, Chen Jin, general manager of Lenovo’s mobile phone business department in China, revealed the running scores of Motorola’s new Edge S series. The overall score of the smartphone on AnTuTu exceeds 850,000 points. This is only 150,000 points away from 1 million points. Chen Jin claims that the new Motorola Edge S series has a running score of 858,000. He believes that the adjustments of the Snapdragon 888+ SoC for non-gaming smartphones are perfect.
The next-generation flagship processor, successor to the Snapdragon 888+ is the Snapdragon 8 Gen1. Considering that the score of the Snapdragon 888+ exceeds 850,000 points, it appears that the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 will exceed 1 million points. Recall that its competitor, Dimensity 2000 (or Dimensity 9000) already exceeds 1 million points on AnTuTu.
Relative to the Snapdragon 888+, Snapdragon 8 Gen1’s super-core CPU is upgraded to Cortex X2 (Snapdragon 888+ is Cortex X1 super-core). Furthermore, Snapdragon 8 Gen1 upgrades to Samsung’s 4nm process. The GPU of this processor is the new Adreno 730 and it integrates Snapdragon X65 baseband.
According to the official introduction, the Snapdragon X65 5G modem and radio frequency system is Qualcomm’s 4th generation 5G modem-to-antenna solution. It is the world’s first to support 10Gbps 5G rate comparable to optical fiber. It is also the first to comply with 3GPP Release 16 specifications.

Snapdragon 898 SoC on GeekBench
The Snapdragon 898 SoC (Snapdragon 8 gen1) will use Samsung’s 4nm manufacturing process. In addition, this chip will use a 1+3+4 three-cluster architecture design. The super-large core is Cortex X2, and the main frequency hit 3.0GHz. Also, the main frequency of the large core is 2.5GHz, and the main frequency of the small core is 1.79GHz. The graphic card is the Adreno 730 and X65 baseband (downlink 10Gbps). In terms of performance, Snapdragon 8 gen1 is said to be about 20% higher than Snapdragon 888.
The Snapdragon 8 gen1 has a single-core running score of about 1300 and a multi-core running score of about 4000. This time Samsung’s device only has a single-core 1211 and a multi-core 3193, which is a huge difference in multi-core results. An earlier Weibo leak shows that the Snapdragon 898 (Snapdragon 8 gen1) will be 20 times faster than its predecessor.
The first batch of devices with Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 will hit the road around mid-December. Most of the leaks so far are of smartphones. This is the first report of a tablet that will use this flagship processor.
