Smartphone brands decided to launch a wave of 5G smartphones in India the last year. The fact is that while the country is struggling to get access to the new network, the smartphone market is still trending and 5G is one of the appealing factors that can make a smartphone a better deal than another. Moreover, with the advent of many 5G chips, it’s natural to see fewer 4G smartphones in the future. India is yet to unveil its first commercial network as the government is still planning the spectrum auction that will determine which carriers get to use which frequencies. However, it’s not early to start testing whether phones will work with the fifth-gen networks. Reliance Jio, one of the biggest and most relevant carriers in India, is testing the network with the unreleased Redmi Note 11T 5G.
The carrier and phone maker are testing the device through the upcoming network. The tests include different usage scenarios in an attempt to test real-life usage. According to the two companies, the phone has achieved “stellar results”. The Redmi Note 11T 5G will support seven 5G bands. The list includes n1, n3, n5, n8, n28, n40, and n78 for standalone (SA) operations. It also supports n1, n3, n40, n78 in two non-standalone (NSA) modes. For those unaware, NSA mode leverages the existing 4G infrastructure, which helps simplify the deployment of 5G.

These 5G capabilities come from the DImensity 810 SoC made on TSMC’s 6 nm architecture. For those unaware, this handset has debuted in China as Redmi Note 11 5G. It will soon make its appearance in the Indian market, as Redmi has an event scheduled for the end of the month and is constantly teasing the new device. The smartphone packs a 6.6-inch 90 Hz IPS LCD with a 50 MP main camera and an 8 MP ultrawide snapper. It draws powers from a 5,000 mAh battery with 33 W fast charging. The device will run Android 11 with MIUI 12.5 in tow. However, we expect it to get an update to Android 12 and MIUI 13 at a later date.
Amazon India is the retailer helping the company to launch the Redmi Note 11T 5G on November 30. The handset is available globally as POCO M4 Pro 5G, so the Redmi Note 11T will probably be exclusive to India.
