A few days ago, MediaTek officially released the world’s first 4nm flagship processor, Dimensity 9000. This processor is not only the world’s first 4nm chip, it also has no less than 10 world’s first under its belt. However, recent reports claim that the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 models will arrive many weeks before the first Dimensity 9000 smartphone. According to Weibo blogger @TODOPlass, “You can’t buy a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 mobile phone this year. It will be around February next year at the earliest”.
On the other hand, the Qualcomm Snapdragon Gen1 first model will launch this year. According to the reports so far, a couple of smartphones with this chip will launch in December. This means that the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 will have the opportunity to cease the market. However, if Dimensity 9000 theoretical capacity matches its practical capacity, then we expect the battle of the century between Qualcomm and MediaTek.
Manufacturers to use the Dimensity 9000 SoC
According to reports out of China, the first batch of manufacturers to use this flagship processor include Vivo, Realme, Xiaomi, Oppo, Samsung, Motorola, and OnePlus. However, there is no information on which of these brands will debut this chip.
There are also speculations that Redmi will unveil a Dimensity 9000 flagship. However, Redmi’s smartphone with this chip will not arrive anytime soon, probably next year.
Gizchina News of the week
After the release of Dimensity 9000, AnTuTu claims that it found a running score of MediaTek Dimensity 9000 in the background. The total score was 1,007,396 points. This new score is more than 5000 points higher than the previous running score of this chip. According to AnTuTu, this flagship SoC has the most stunning performance in history.
For the CPU part, Dimensity 9000 adopts the latest architecture of Arm v9. It includes 1 Cortex-X2 super core with a main frequency of 3.05GHz, 3 large A710 cores with a main frequency of 2.85GHz, and 4 small A510 cores. MediaTek official data show that with the help of this new super-large core, the performance of the Dimensity 9000 is increased by 35% and the efficiency is increased by 37%. In terms of GPU, Dimensity 9000 uses Arm’s latest Mali-G710 core. This graphic card improves its performance by 35% and efficiency by 60%.
A previous report shows that the Dimensity9000 AnTuTu running score exceeds 1,000,000 points. The previous score hit 1,002,220 points but a new score after the launch of the chip hit 1,007,396 points. As of now, this is the strongest smartphone chip in the Android camp, theoretically at least. The AnTuTu running score of the Snapdragon 888+ is more than 100,000 points lower. After subsequent optimization, this result is expected to be further improved.
In addition, there is an overall power consumption improvement in the Dimensity 9000. According to MediaTek, this new chip reduces power consumption by 40% in the standby state. For multimedia, it reduces power consumption by 65% while its power consumption reduces by 35% for gaming.
