ASUS is on track to become one of the fastest smartphone makers shipping Android 12 updates. Some of its most recent smartphones like those on the ZenFone 8 series are set to receive the newer Android 12 update by the next month. However, the same treatment may not reach older devices like the ASUS ROG Phone II. The device was launched in 2019 and is getting today its long-anticipated Android 11 update. That’s right, while others will get Android 12, the old handset is getting Android 11.
ASUS hasn’t announced the phone’s Android 11 upgrade on its English website yet. However, we already know the update is reaching the Chinese units. It has revealed the changelog previously on the company’s Chinese website, and the beta testing started in late September. Today, the update is rolling out to a few lucky owners of the handset. The update carries a build number of 18.0210.2111.160 and started rolling out on Tuesday. It includes all goodies introduced with Android 11.
The list of goodies includes chat bubbles, a Conversations section for notifications, a built-in screen recorder, new APIs for apps, and improvements for privacy and permissions. The update also brings a newer ROG UI which runs on ROG Phone 3 and ROG Phone 5. You can check this update’s changelog below.
