Realme GT 2 Pro confirmed as one of the first smartphones with Snapdragon 8 Gen1

After many leaks and speculation, Qualcomm has officially unveiled the Snapdragon 8 Gen1. The new chipset brings ARMv9 architecture and a 4 nm fabrication process. It brings significant upgrades in terms of performance and also in the graphical tasks thanks to a new GPU. During the keynote, Qualcomm confirmed that the first flagships with this SoC will be announced this month. This gives traction to the rumors pointing to the announcement of the Xiaomi 12 and Moto Edge X30, however, the Realme GT 2 Pro may also be announced this month. Today, the Chinese brand has confirmed that its flagship is among the first with this chipset.

The Realme GT 2 Pro has been cycling through the rumor mill for quite some time. Recently, it had some of its specifications leaked alongside a design render confirming a camera visor that resembles another device from the past. The Realme GT 2 Pro is coming as the company’s “first-ever ultra-premium flagship”, rising above the likes of the Realme X50 Pro and previous members in the GT family. To recall, the Realme GT 5G didn’t get a Pro variant, which clearly means that the GT 2 Pro is not the successor of this device, but something much beyond.

Gizchina News of the week

To celebrate Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen1 announcement, and also to take a ride in the buzz, the company has confirmed the chipset inside of its upcoming flagship. The company has proudly announced that its flagship will pack the new CPU. It just makes the whole package even more interesting.

Realme GT 2 Pro alleged specifications

The Realme GT 2 Pro will carry the new chipset at the help and was previously spotted at AnTuTu. According to the benchmarking platform, the device has broken the 1 million barriers with the newest CPU. Other specs are equally impressive. It will come with up to 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Furthermore, the flagship will flaunt a 6.51-inch AMOLED screen with Full HD+ resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. There will be a 32 MP punch-hole camera, and a 50 MP main camera in the rear with optical image stabilization. The camera setup resembles the Huawei Nexus 6p.

Another intriguing characteristic is the 125W UltraDART charging technology. The device is said to come with a 5,000 mAh battery, but we’re not 100% sure of this fact. After all, companies have been holding the capacity when implementing super fast-charging technologies. Also, the Realme GT Neo2 is the only flagship with a 5,000 mAh battery and it has the company’s former 65 W charging technology.

Unfortunately, there is no word on the new flagship release. The Realme GT 5G was unveiled in March 2021. However, the company is teasing and even confirming the GT 2 Pro much earlier than it has done with the GT 5G. So, we can expect the flagship to be announced earlier.
