Oppo has finally confirmed when its annual Inno Day will take place in China. The company will finally host its innovation-centric event on December 14 and 15 next week. As usual, the event will be the house of Oppo’s innovative ideas, futuristic technologies, and concepts. We may see another demo of the company’s rolling smartphone or even the first demo of its upcoming foldable smartphone. Amidst rumors and leaks, there is one thing confirmed, the company will unveil an innovative and unique retractable camera module.
Oppo unveiled a new video teaser through its Twitter handle that reveals a retractable camera sensor that protrudes outwards. The text on the camera module reveals that the device has a 1/1.56″ camera sensor with a 50 mm focal length and an f / 2.4 aperture. Unfortunately, Oppo did not dive deep into the details of its “self-developed retractable camera”.
The teasers serve to demo the concept of this innovative technology. The sensor extends outwards after the camera app is opened and will go back inwards once you close the app. For now, it’s unknown if this camera sensor will be used for telephoto zoom capabilities or simply fit in a larger sensor inside the camera module. This is an interesting concept, after all, these protruding cameras have been a target of complaints in the recent years.
