Samsung is gearing up to introduce its Samsung Galaxy S22 series of flagship devices. The new family of flagships will introduce three smartphones, but the Ultra variant will be quite different since it will bring, for the first time, an S Pen. The higher variant is coming as a replacement for the Galaxy Note series that didn’t get a new variant this year. Previous reports suggested that the device would still carry the Galaxy S22 Ultra moniker despite the new changes, but a new report suggests otherwise. Apparently, Samsung will name this new variant as Galaxy S22 Note. That makes sense as the device is carrying Note features, but still belongs to the S series.

Gizchina News of the week
The new rumors come from Twitter user @FrontTron, who has a good track record when it comes to Samsung leaks. It’s crazy for old Samsung fans to think that a flagship will have a S and a Note in the same. But that is exactly what Samsung wants with the upcoming launch. It’s simplifyng the things and merging its flagship series. The fact is that the Note series has become less relevant and not so different from the Galaxy S series in the past few years. The big difference always has been the S Pen slot, now this is addressed with the tentatively named Galaxy S22 Note.
Samsung Galaxy S22 Note – the two flagship series will be merged
Samsung probably was thinking about ditching the Note series for a while. The ongoing crisis in the supply chain, driven by the coronavirus pandemic, probably served as a catalyst. The company is trying to offer the Galaxy Z Fold3 as an alternative for the Note series. The foldable has a big screen when unfolded and also offers S Pen compatibility. But still, the company probably finds the need for an actual Note smartphone. Users still need something the compromises made on foldable handsets. Furthermore, it will be priced below a foldable smartphone.
The Galaxy S22 Note will be the true king of the flagship series. It basically brings the Note-tier back its former position pof offering something beyond the S-series. The device will have a unique design, will have better cameras, and also the bigger battery. Furthermore, the Galaxy S22 Note will be the only one with a curved AMOLED display.
We need to digest this with a pinch or two of salt, but more details will appear soon.
