WhatsApp is testing nearby business search functionality

WhatsApp

In the near future, the WhatsApp messenger will have a function that allows users to search for nearby businesses, companies and stores right in the application. According to WABetainfo, a couple of months ago, a business directory was made available to some users in Sao Paulo, Brazil on WhatsApp. And the new option to search for nearby businesses is a continuation of this project.

The resource reported that in the future, when searching in WhatsApp, a new section called “Nearby enterprises” will be available. “When you choose it, the results of business accounts will be filtered based on your choice,” WABetainfo said in a posting.

It is possible that WhatsApp will launch the business directory feature first and then implement the search tool. And once WhatsApp users have the opportunity to search for products and services offered nearby, placing orders for them in the messenger will only be a matter of time.

WhatsApp developers are doubling down on the business and commerce segment for the platform’s future growth. WhatsApp recently introduced an updated Business Info page. The messenger also plans to redesign the Contact Info page, adding an icon for quick access to the subject of the search.

Gizchina News of the week

WhatsApp has improved a very popular feature: you can now pre-listen to voice messages before sending them

WhatsApp voice messages are very popular because; unlike Facebook Messenger, you have no time limit and can see when they listen to it. You can even change the playback speed.

Recently, the developers of WhatsApp have added an interesting feature; the ability to listen to a voice message before sending it. To do this, you need to, as usual, press and hold the microphone icon to record a voice message; and then slide up to enter the hands-free recording mode. When you’re done, hit the center stop button and hit the play button to listen to your message. If everything suits you, click the submit button.

Interestingly, two of Meta’s other messaging apps – Facebook Messenger and Instagram; don’t let you do something like this, at least not yet.

Also, recently, WhatsApp introduced a disappearing message feature that automatically deletes messages after 24 hours, 7 days or 90 days.

Not only that, WhatsApp users will now also be able to turn on disappearing messages by default for all new one-to-one chats. Previously, you had to turn it on manually. And as soon as you turn on disappearing messages by default, the application will notify your interlocutors about it.
