OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro get new firmware update with January security patch


OnePlus 9

OnePlus may be busy with the expansion of its OnePlus Nord series and also with the brand new OnePlus 10 series. However, when it comes to software support the company still has a legacy of devices to cover, in special the still new OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro. OnePlus is rolling out a new firmware for these two flagship smartphones. The new software carries C.44 build and is reaching smartphones across global markets. In addition to many improvements, the update also brings the lçatest security patch update.

The new OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro firmware update brings the January 2022 security patch level for Android. The update also brings a plethora of bug fixes and system enhancements for the duo of flagship smartphones. You can read the complete changelog below:

    • Gallery now allows switching between different layouts with a two-finger pinch gesture, intelligently recognizing the best-quality pictures, and cropping the thumbnail based on the content, making the gallery layout more pleasing
  • Canvas AOD

    • Canvas AOD brings new diverse styles of lines and colors, for a more personalized lock screen experience with inspiring visuals
    • Multiple brushes, effects, and color adjustment
    • Software algorithm and improved face recognition to better identify the features and skin color of different figures
  • Camera

    • Camera response speed when taking videos
    • Optimizes startup speed of Camera
    • Optimizes the image effect of the rear Camera
  • Network

    • Fixed the issue where users were unable to access the 5G network in some scenarios.

OnePlus 9

In the post announcing the update, OnePlus states that this update fixes a lot of previously-spotted issues. However, not everything is addressed, but hopefully, the experience will be much better than before. Some of the fixes only apply to the EU version of the firmware.

As usual, this rollout is happening in a gradual manner. Therefore, some users in certain regions will need to wait a couple of days to see this update.
