Twitter is reportedly gearing up to hire over 50 engineers for its Singapore regional office by the end of 2023. In other words, the social media giant is on the verge of doubling its engineering headcount at its Singapore-based engineering center. As a result, the number of engineers will be over a hundred by the end of 2023. Back in 2020, Twitter set up its Asia-Pacific engineering center. Now, the center currently has over 50 engineers, product managers, researchers, and data scientists.
Twitter To Hire More Engineers In Singapore
On Tuesday, January 25, Twitter announced that the new hires will work on global initiatives. However, they will be living in Singapore. Furthermore, these new hires will have multiple roles including product management, machine learning, data science, and engineering. Aside from that, the team will handle a project that involves developing new product experiences, enhancing the reliability of the platform, and speeding it up. They will also be working on bringing more personalized content for the Twitterverse.

In a media release (via CNA), the company said hiring more engineers will enable it to boost its global engineering capabilities. Moreover, this investment will help the company provide better service availability and more reliability for Twitter users worldwide. Also, Twitter will be making this investment in collaboration with the DISG (Digital Industry Singapore). According to the engineering center’s director, Mr. Silvanus Lee, Twitter’s Singapore-based team of data engineering and data science, develop the company’s metrics and core data sets.
Aside from that, the team carry out foundational research and drive statistical analyses. This helps them understand how Twitterverse uses its products for a better user experience. Lee did not reveal the salary range for the new engineers. However, he assured that the company will be offering competitive compensation and benefits so that world-class talent would be interested in joining the company. In an interview with The Straits Times, he stated that there is a continuous shortage when it comes to technical talent in data science and engineering.
Twitter Singapore Engineering Hub
The Twitter Singapore engineering hub was set up back in February 2020. Moreover, it is located at the CapitaGreen building on Market Street, within the main regional office. According to DISG senior vice president Ang Chin Tah, this expansion of Twitter’s engineering center will offer Singaporeans an unmissable opportunity. In other words, Twitter’s expansion will offer them a chance to work on newfangled technologies that are designed for global markets. Aside from that, it will allow Singaporeans to work alongside colleagues from different parts of the world.
