Samsung has been behind the competition when it comes to fast-charging technology. That’s an undeniable fact. While companies like Oppo, Xiaomi, Nubia are playing with 80W, 120 W, 165W, and even 200 W, Samsung last year’s flagships came with 25 W charging and that’s the limit for its mid-range smartphones. Brands like Realme also proved that mid-range devices can get insane charging speeds, but this does not seem to be enough for Samsung to push its charging speeds forwards. The initial rumors for the Galaxy S22 series have been suggesting the company keep the tepid 25W charging. More recently, we saw reports confirming 45W for the Galaxy S22 Ultra, at the very least. Now, Denmark’s DEMKO certification states that both the Plus and Ultra models will have 45 W charging. Apparently, charging will be a thing that will vary by region.
According to reports, the Galaxy S22+ models SM/S906E/DS, SM-906E, SM-S9060, and S22 Ultra models M-S908E/DS, SM-908E, SM-S9080, SC-52C, SCG14, will have different charging speeds in different regions. However, the vanilla Galaxy S22 that goes by model numbers SM-S901E/DS, SM-901E, SM-S9010, SC-51C, SCG13, will have only 25 W fast-charging, no matter where you buy it from. That said, some of the modern mid-range smartphones like the recently released Redmi Note 11 series will charge faster than a flagship that costs almost triple.

Galaxy S22 will be the less exciting device in the lineup
Denmark’s DEMKO, unfortunately, does not tell anything about the battery capacity on these handsets. Despite this, a recent leak revealed that the Galaxy S22 will pack a small 3,700 mAh. Apparently, Samsung is sacrificing its battery capacity to make this device smaller than its predecessor. In fact, the Galaxy S22 will be the smallest Galaxy flagship since the Galaxy S10e. The device may still get a decent battery life thanks to the 4 nm Exynos 2200 and the software optimizations. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S22+ will get a 4,500 mAh battery which is on par with the current flagships, and the S22 Ultra will have 5,000 mAh which is beyond some of its competitors.
Samsung didn’t tease its upcoming flagships yet. However, we already know that they are coming as the Galaxy Unpacked event is scheduled for February 9. During the event, the company will reveal the three flagships and also its Galaxy Tab S8 series. The Galaxy S22 Ultra will get the spotlight since it is coming with a Galaxy Note-esque design and also an S Pen slot.
