Tecno Pova 5G smartphone’s India launch date has been revealed, and it will be the Chinese mobile phone manufacturer’s first 5G smartphone in the country. Earlier this month, Tecno Mobile confirmed that the handset will debut in India in February 2022. To recall, the went official in Nigeria back in December 2021 as the brand’s maiden 5G-ready phone. The feature-laden Pova 5G smartphone sports a 120Hz display and has three rear-mounted cameras.

Aside from that, the handset supports 18W fast charging. In India, the Pova 5G could come with a Memory Fusion technology that virtually expands the phone’s memory capacity to up to 11GB. Aside from prepping to launch the Tecno Pova 5G in India, Tecno Mobile has announced the Tecno POP 5S for the Mexico market. Regrettably, the company is still mum on the phone’s global availability. Nevertheless, it is likely go official in India and several other regions in the coming days.

The Tecno Pova 5G smartphone’s India launch is set for February 8. Tecno Mobile India announced the phone’s launch date in the country via a tweet on Saturday. The Pova 5G went official in Nigeria carrying a price tag of NGN 129,000 (about INR 23,100) for the sole 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model. According to a report by Money Control, the phone is likely to fall under India’s sub-20K category. Moreover, consumers will be able to choose between Power Blue, Polar Silver, and Dazzle Black color options.

Specifications & Features

Details about the Tecno Pova 5G India variant’s specifications and features are still scarce. However, the phone in Nigeria sports a 6.95-inch display with HD+ (1,080×2,460 pixels) resolution. Aside from that, the screen offers a high refresh rate of 120Hz. Under the hood, the Pova 5G packs an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 900 SoC. The phone ships with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM. Also, it comes with 128GB of UFS 3.1 of onboard storage capacity. It is still unclear whether Tecno Mobile India will launch more memory options in the country.

In the photography department, the Tecno Pova 5G features a triple camera setup at the back. This includes a 50MP main camera, a 2MP camera, and an AI lens. Upfront, the phone features a 16MP shooter with dual-LED flash for selfies and video calling. Furthermore, the phone draws its juices from a 6,000 mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging. The phone boots Android 11 with a layer of HiOS 8.0 on top. The Nigerian model has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor that also serves as the power button.
