Realme effectively started its Realme 9 lineup with the Realme 9i in early January. Now, the company is gearing up to make February the month where the world will know the “true kings” of the numbered series. On February 16, the brand will unleash its Realme 9 Pro and Realme 9 Pro+. These devices bring a set of compelling specifications to make them worthy of the “Pro” suffix. It shouldn’t be a surprise, but the company has now confirmed that Android 12 is coming with these handsets. Well, that may not be a surprise for anyone expecting a smartphone at this point of 2022, but if we recall, there are still brands shipping phones with Android 11, and that includes Realme.
The Realme 9i, for example, was unveiled in the last month with Android 11 and Realme UI 2.0 on top. Today, the brand also revealed a cost-effective smartphone in Thailand, the Realme C35, and again it still runs the outdated Realme UI 2.0 version with Android 11. For that reason, we can understand why Realme is teasing Realme UI 3.0 on the Pro variants. With these handsets, customers won’t need to wait a couple of months for an update that brings them to the latest Android version available.
Gizchina News of the week
Realme 9 Pro and Realme 9 Pro+ key specs
In terms of specifications, the Realme 9 Pro+ gets its “Pro+” from the MediaTek Dimensity 920 processor. This chipset which boasts 5G connectivity is made on the cutting edge 6nm process and has two ARM Cortex-A78 cores. The regular Pro variant will bring the Snapdragon 695 SoC, it’s also a 6 nm processor with two Cortex-A78 cores, but with a weaker Adreno 619 GPU. These devices can easily handle Android 12 with all the goodies introduced by Realme UI 3.0. We can cite some UI refreshments and the ability to change accents based on the wallpaper.
In addition to the software’s confirmation, the brand also disclosed a teaser for the Realme 9 Pro series in a short music video. The teaser focuses on the camera department, the Sony IMX 766 sensor which captures 50 MP shots and offers Optical Image Stabilizations. Last but not least, the video also highlights the “chameleon back”. Realme is borrowing the tech used in the Vivo V23 series (another BBK owned brand) with its Realme 9 Pro series. Some of the variants will have a back panel that changes its color under sunlight or UV lights.

The Realme 9 Pro and Realme 9 Pro+ will go official in the next week. These two devices are coming to compete directly with Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 11 series that went official in global markets in India earlier this month. The teasers and leaks should keep popping out in the next few days, so stay tuned.
