We’ve been hearing a lot about the Redmi K50 series since the last year. The lineup is said to bring at least four smartphones – Redmi K50, K50 Pro, K50 Pro+ and Redmi K50 Gaming. After multiple leaks and rumors, it seems that we’ll finally know the first device of this lineup this month. Xiaomi has confirmed that the Redmi K50 Gaming will be revealed in China in the next week. That was a quite surprising revelation, after all, the standard phones are not available yet. Last year, the Redmi K40 Gaming was the last smartphone of the lineup to be revealed, for 2022, that’s the opposite. In light of the imminent release, Redmi is posting a couple of teasers through its social media handle.
Redmi K50 Gaming will pack Snapdragon 8 Gen 1
Today, the company is teasing the phone’s performance for gaming. The teaser confirms the presence of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, despite previous rumors pointing to the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC inside of the Gaming variant. Apparently, the responsibility of debuting MediaTek’s flagship SoC will be exclusive to Oppo. Moving on, Redmi states that “it’s not only about the raw performance of the Snapdragon 8 series”. The company clearly wants to ensure that performance will not be only dependent on the chipset itself. In fact, that is an interesting approach, after all, if most of the 2022 flagships are coming with this chipset, what can differentiate gaming phones from standard flagships? The details.
Gizchina News of the week
The Redmi K50 Gaming Edition will come with an efficient cooling system to keep performance stable all the time. The device will have a 40 percent better heat dissipation. It will rely on a 4,860 sq. mm vapor chamber improvement, but there is just a particular part of the system. The company also redesigned the phone’s internals and introduced new materials and processes to improve efficiency. According to the company, the phone will easily handle games running at 90 frames per second.
Other details that differentiate the Redmi K50 Gaming from standard phones are the physical shoulder buttons. The company brings slight improvements, but the company is still using the design where triggers pop up with a mechanical toggle. The shoulder triggers, however, are rounded to match the curvature of the body. More than 40 elements of the mechanism have been redesigned. While the camera seems similar to its predecessor, the company also changed the details. There’s a metal rim with a single piece of rectangular glass that protects the shooters.
The company may also disclose a special variant designed in partnership with Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team. However, GSMArena states that there isn’t any evidence pointing to this. So we need to digest this latter detail with a pinch of salt. After all, it could be just a concept render.
