Just arrived, already disassembled. We are talking about the new Galaxy S22. Two days after their official announcement, the base version of Samsung’s flagship is the subject of videos to test its durability.
It is the PBKreviews channel that tested it, spotted by GSMArena. In a first video, the Galaxy S22 is the subject of a dissasembly to define its repairability score.
Many screws, a glass plate on the back firmly fixed to the metal frame, flexible cables and a plastic cover. To get to the motherboard and the camera module, there is work. As PBKreviews notes, before you can replace the screen, you have to completely strip the Galaxy S22 of its major components and heat it up to loosen the adhesive, but also fiddling a bit more to remove the battery. In the end, it is a repairability score of 7.5/10.
Then comes the big work, the durability test. It is here where the Galaxy S22 will suffer. For more than eight minutes, it will be subjected to all possible tortures: one-minute immersion in water, scratch test, bending, etc.
Gizchina News of the week
The Samsung Galaxy S22 scored 10 out of 10 in the durability test
And it looks like it did really succeed. Its IP68 certification (resistance to dust and water) is well respected and it recovers perfectly from its bathing. As noted by XDA-Developers, the Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra are water resistant, but not waterproof. That is to say, they withstand a bath, but are not hermetically sealed to withstand salt water or deep water. Compliance with the degree of protection IP68 indicates that the smartphone can withstand immersion to a depth of more than one meter for no more than 30 minutes. In this case, everything was limited to a shallow plastic container, from which the Galaxy S22 came out dry. However, despite the presence of water protection, the screen reacts to water.
In any case, they are not afraid of cutter blows. Certainly, deep marks are visible on the screen and the back despite the presence of the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus + glass announced as the most resistant on the market. But, as PBKreviews points out, the entire aluminum Galaxy S22 chassis (photo module, base, buttons and frame) turns out to be very solid and, even when pressing on each side, the Samsung smartphone does not suffer bending or breaking.
It leaves with the congratulations of the jury and a durability score of 10/10.
