Chinese manufacturing giant, Huawei, is currently struggling in the smartphone market for obvious reasons. However, the company is not giving up and will keep releasing smartphones. According to Huawei’s executives, the company is not in the market to compete. Huawei just wants to survive by releasing a couple of devices. The company is optimistic that the U.S. ban situation will be over pretty soon. According to a recent report from Weibo blogger @wangzaibaishitong the Huawei Mate 40E Pro 5G will launch on March 3rd.
The blogger further reveals that this smartphone will come with the HiSilicon Kirin 9000L processor. In view of the fact that the blogger has repeatedly disclosed some accurate information about Huawei before, this information should have some credibility. In addition, there have been many leaks regarding the Huawei Mate 40E Pro 5G and the Kirin 9000L processor. Most of the report claims that the smartphone will arrive very soon.
Gizchina News of the week
Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 9000L chip
According to previous reports, the HiSilicon Kirin 9000L chip is built with Samsung’s 5nm EUV process. The overall design is similar to that of the Kirin 9000 and Kirin 9000E, but the configuration is lower. Thus, the positioning of this processor is lower than the Kirin 9000 and Kirin 9000E. From the speculations so far, the Kirin 9000L will decrease the main frequency of the CPU large-core A77 to 2.86GHz. The previous Kirin 9000 and Kirin 9000E both use the 3.13GHz A77 large-core.
As for the GPU, the Kirin 9000L has a larger reduction than the other two. The Kirin 9000L comes with an 18-core Mali-G78 GPU. As for the Kirin 9000 and Kirin 9000E, they have 24 and 22 cores respectively. These GPUs are better than the 18-core GPU.
As for the NPU that Huawei has always valued, the Kirin 9000L also has a simplified configuration. It retains only one NPU large core which is quite different from the top Kirin 9000. The Kirin 9000 has a combination of 2 large cores and 1 microcore.
On the whole, the Kirin 9000L maintains a similar architecture and CPU performance as the top version but has a relatively large simplified configuration in terms of GPU and NPU. Thus, the chip will also be slightly inferior in display and image performance. As for other configurations, it is reported that Huawei Mate 40E Pro will inherit the design and peripheral configuration of the Huawei Mate 40 Pro as a whole. Thus, the new smartphone will only change the core. This device is worth looking forward to.
