According to an internal memo obtained by MacRumors from reliable sources, Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers will soon be able to repair Face ID on iPhone XS and newer models without having to replace the entire device. Apple says authorized technicians will soon have access to the new TrueDepth camera service part. This contains the Face ID and a front-facing camera module, to repair the same device. According to Apple, this move will help reduce the number of full-unit replacements as part of the company’s commitment to reducing the carbon footprint of its products.
Apple introduced Face ID on the iPhone X in 2017, but the device appears to be excluded from repairs and only applies to the iPhone XS and newer devices. Apple Stores and Apple authorized service providers will be able to use the Apple Service Toolkit diagnostic tool to determine whether to perform a Face ID repair instead of replacing the entire unit. However, Apple will have to train relevant personnel on how to do this. The company will announce the training information at a later date.

iPad will have a big update?nbsp;Apple’s latest patent for Apple Pencil
A new patent shows off a redesigned Health app that could mean a lot for the Apple Pencil. The patent shows an iPad-specific health application. Notably, the program comes with a new “scratchpad” designed specifically for the Pencil feature. Some analysts believe that such a configuration seems to be specific for health care workers. The “name” and “date of birth” fields at the top of the pattern and the links for different categories (health and tags, etc.) look much like traditional medical files.
Since Apple-Pencil can be used for input, it can also be used in the “Scratchpad” function. Thus, there is reason to believe that it can be used for the input of health data. It would be great for users if “scratchpads” became common in iPad apps. At the same time, it makes a lot of sense to have a way to combine notes with text input. This could make it useful in recipes, journals, budgets, and any other application that deals with lots of information.
The rest of the newly exposed patent is all about user sleep. This includes sleep data, wake events, sleep sessions, and more. As with previous patents, there is no guarantee that anything in the patent will land as an actual product.
