The situation is becoming worse as time passes in the struggle between Ukraine and Russia. The Russian army has successfully controlled the Chernobyl region, something that raised the amount of radiation emanating in the region. Yesterday, the troops have directed an attack on Kyiv and the Ukrainian forces along with armed volunteers have been fighting to resist the Russian invasion. After the unidirectional move against Ukraine, the United States, Europe, and the United Nations have lifted multiple sanctions against Russia. These sanctions go from the economic sector to the technological sector which comprises multiple ranges. However, Russia’s Head of Space adverts the United States on applying spatial sanctions against the country.
Dmitry Rogozin, head of Russia’s Space Corporation Roscomos, is no stranger to bizarre outbursts. Now, in the perfect time, he’s back at it. Following the growing tensions for World War III, Rogozin reiterated that aiming for new sanctions against Russia’s space program could have some disastrous consequences for its adversaries. In fact, Rogozin went as far as to level what appears to be a direct threat to the United States.
“If you block cooperation with us, who will save the ISS from uncontrolled deorbiting and falling into the United States,” Rogozin wrote on Twitter.
He also appeared to threaten other countries just for good measure.
“There is also the option of dropping a 500-ton structure to India and China”. He wrote. “Do you want to threaten them with such a prospect? The ISS does not fly over Russia, so all the risks are yours. Are you ready for them?
This afternoon, Joe Biden levied another fresh wave of sanctions against Russia. The goal is to cut the country off economically from the rest of the world. It also aims to undermine the country’s space program. Curiously, the spatial race was one of the things that ceased the Cold War.

“As you noticed, we, nevertheless, continue to make our own spacecraft,” Rogozin wrote. “And we will build them by expanding the production of the necessary components and devices at home”. “Do you want to ban all countries from launching their spacecraft on the most reliable Russian rockets in the world?” he added.
Rogozin also complains that the sanctions were going to destroy space competition. He adds that Biden is throwing a wrench between Russian and US cooperation when it comes to training astronauts.
It’s a complicated situation, not the least because Russia’s own spacecraft constantly put the ISS (International Space Station) and its occupants in danger. In October 2021, a Russian-made Soyuz spacecraft docked at the ISS. It caused the entire station to spin almost out of control after it unexpectedly fired its thrusters.
Furthermore, on another occasion, Russia intentionally blew up one of its satellites with a missile. It created a cloud of over 1,000 trackable and very dangerous pieces of space debris.
Russia has been cut off economically from the rest of the world. The company will have to find its way through the technological and smartphone segment. After all, the semiconductors shipped by Western companies or using Western tech will certainly be missed by the country.
Recently, the infamous hacker group, Anonymous has pledged support to Ukraine by declaring a “cyberwar” against Russia.
