We knew that Honor will hold a new product launch conference today and unleash the Magic 4 series models globally. Everything happened according to the plan.
Honor Magic 4 Pro Specs
Display
The Honor Magic 4 Pro sports a 6.81-inch true 1.07 billion-color LTPO super curved screen. It also supports 1920Hz high-frequency PWM dimming. In this sense, it is the industry’s first flagship phone that supports LTPO + high-frequency PWM dimming.
The phone’s screen supports adaptive refresh rate adjustment. Simply put, it can intelligently adjust the dynamic screen refresh rate of 1-120Hz according to the application and user operating habits. The phone can switch from a high refresh rate with high power consumption to a low refresh rate with low power consumption when it is not needed. This will reduce power consumption, thereby achieving the purpose of saving power and extending battery life.
By the way, the Honor Magic 4 Pro adopts the self-developed MotionSync technology for the first time. With its help, the phone can adjust the screen refresh rate in real-time. It’s realized quickly and intelligently according to the animation rendering speed of different scenes and the finger touch operation.
Lastly, it has a 2,848 x 1,312 pixels resolution and via the included MEMC, it also supports real-time conversion of SDR to HDR content.
Camera
One of the biggest highlights of the phone is its camera. On the back, we can find a triple-camera, including a 50MP main lens (f/1.8), a 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens (f2.2), and a 64MP periscope telephoto lens (f/3.5, 3.5x optical zoom, 100x digital zoom). Plus, we can see a dTOF sensor as well.
On the opposite side, there’s a 12MP wide-angle lens and a 3D depth sensor in a pill-shaped cutout.
What’s more important, the camera supports the multi-main camera fusion computing photography technology. That’s why there is every reason to think this is the best camera phone launched to date.
Due to this technology, every camera sensor can operate independently making the camera system really a multi-camera module. Also, this technology is capable of combining the advantages of different cameras.
The Honor Magic 4 Pro supports Honor’s self-developed HONOR Image Engine. The latter integrates chip capabilities through plug-ins through heterogeneous chip platforms and realizes the full release of software and hardware capabilities.
And by deconstructing different high-level algorithms, separating the strategy engine, and reconstructing the image process, the camera efficiency reaches its peak.
This is the first phone to support a 4K 60fps 10bit-log movie mode. Honor has cooperated with the Hollywood professional imaging team to carefully modulate multiple movie-level 3D LUTs, map, and transform based on the color of the original material.
Hardware
This series comes with a new generation of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 mobile platforms. Its super core adopts the industry’s most advanced Contex-X2 architecture with a frequency of 3.0GHz.
Gizchina News of the week
In addition, the new-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 mobile platform integrates the latest Snapdragon X65 5G modem (baseband) and radiofrequency system. In effect, it achieves 10Gbps download speed and 3.5G upload speed for the first time in the world.
The Honor Magic 4 series also adopts the third-generation graphene technology – superconducting hexagonal graphene. The latter improves the thermal conductivity by 50% compared with the first-generation graphene. Through the 3D unequal thickness design of graphene, the total heat dissipation area reaches 20000+mm². Lastly, the newly designed VC liquid cooling system maximizes heat dissipation performance.
The 4,600mAh capacity battery supports 100W wired fast charging.
Water-Resistance
The Honor Magic 4 Pro supports up to IP68 dust and water resistance. Thus, it can be immersed in water for 1.5 meters and remain there for 30 minutes.
As we know, the IP protection level is composed of two numbers. The first number indicates the level of the equipment against dust and foreign objects intrusion; the second number indicates the degree of airtightness of the equipment against moisture and water intrusion. The larger the number, the higher the protection.
On the Honor Magic 4 Pro, the manufacturer has achieved the highest protection level in the industry.
(The Honor Magic 4 has an IP56 rating.)
Honor Magic 4 Specs
The vanilla version comes with slightly modified specs. For instance, it has a lower resolution screen of 2,664 x 1,224 pixels. But the display size still remains at 6.8 inches. The screen supports 120Hz refresh rate.
The Honor Magic 4 sports a 50-megapixel super-bottom main camera. It is accompanied by an 8-megapixel periscope telephoto lens as well as a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens.
More importantly, the Honor Magic4 comes with an 8-megapixel 50X periscope telephoto lens. It also supports 5X optical zoom as well as OIS (optical image stabilization). With its help, you can even capture the moon.
The battery capacity is 4800mAh. It supports 66W wired fast charging.
Other Features
Both models run Android 12 customized with Magic UI 6.0 out of the box. In terms of connectivity, the phones come with support for Bluetooth 5.1, 5G, and Wi-Fi 6.
