Xiaomi decided to push POCO at the MWC stage to give some of the spotlights to the sub-brand. We don’t know if that will work well as most of the recent POCO smartphones are just rebadging. Those disappointed with the lack of Xiaomi launches at the event, will be glad to know that the company is preparing for a new season of launches. According to recent reports, the company is gearing up to bring its Xiaomi 12 series to global markets. As per the sources, the Xiaomi 12 series will hit the global stage on March 15.
Apparently, Xiaomi will use an online event on March 15 to disclose the arrival of the Xiaomi 12 series in Europe, and perhaps in other regions like India. It’s unclear if all three models will reach the global markets. For now, there are three devices – Xiaomi 12, 12 Pro, and 12X. However, there are many rumors about a Xiaomi 12 Mini and a Xiaomi 12 Lite. On top of that, we have the long-rumored 12 Ultra, the beefier of the flagships. However, there isn’t concrete info and none of the sources want to confirm.
Gizchina News of the week
The marketing campaign will focus on the cameras and the event will have the tagline “Master every scene”. To recall, all three devices come with 509 MP main cameras. However, the Pro is the most interesting with a 50 MP telephoto camera and ultrawide. The Xiaomi 12 and 12X come with 13 MP ultrawide snappers and 5 MP tele macro cameras.
Xiaomi 12 series specs and pricing info
The Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro feature the current Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, and the European (Global) variants will still use the same chipset. The 12X uses the Snapdragon 870 and will probably remain unchanged. All three devices come with AMOLED displays with up to 120 Hz refresh rate and an in-display fingerprint scanner. Also, the flagships come with up to 120 W charging.
As for the rumored prices, the 12 Pro may cost between 1,000 and 1,200 Euros. Meanwhile, the 12 will cost somewhere in the 800 to 900 Euros range. The Xiaomi 12X obviously will be the most affordable, selling for around 600 to 700 Euros.
We expect more details to emerge pretty soon. Worth noting that there are several rumors pointing to the existence of the Xiaomi 12 Lite variant. This one would come with more intermediary specifications which means more affordable. It won’t come to China, but is still expected for global markets. We need to digest anything with a pinch of salt, after all, evidences are still scarce. The device had its design revealed in leaked renders.
