Xiaomi unveiled its Xiaomi Civi way back in September last year. The device became a big hit in China and stole the headlines several times. The handset got a lot of good specifications such as a 120 Hz OLED display, 55W fast-charging, and an attractive price. Unfortunately, global customers have eagerly waited for this handset and it never reached overseas. Despite this, Xiaomi seems to be already preparing the path for a Xiaomi Civi 2. A new leak comes straight from the reputed leakster Digital Chat Station.
According to the popular Chinese leakster, the Xiaomi Civi 2 is already on the way. However, unlike many enthusiasts are probably expecting, it will be more an “incremental upgrade”. The new phone will bring the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ SoC, and that should be the biggest difference when compared to its predecessor. In addition to the new chipset, the phone will also bring Android 12 which shouldn’t be a big surprise. Furthermore, it will carry MIUI 13 straight out of the box as this is Xiaomi’s latest OS version. The other aspects of the Xiaomi Civi 2 should remain unchanged. That means charging technology, cameras, and display should remain intact. Xiaomi may even keep the original design without major changes.
Gizchina News of the week
In terms of performance, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G offers a 20 percent boost in CPU and GPU performance, when compared with the non-Plus variant. As a result, the Xiaomi Civi should perform better than its predecessor. But again, in real life usage, that difference shouldn’t be much noticeable. For now, there is no official word regarding the launch date of the Xiaomi Civi 2. We may expect it for the upcoming months. The big question is whether it will come to global markets or will remain a China-exclusive smartphone lineup.
Xiaomi Civi 2 specifications
To have a good perspective of what the Xiaomi Civi 2 will offer we just need to recap its predecessors’ specifications. The Xiaomi Civi 2 probably retains the 6.55-inch OLED display with the Full HD+ resolution of its predecessor. Moreover, we can expect a 120 Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The phone also has a 32 MP front-facing camera. In the rear camera department, we have a 64 MP main camera, an 8 MP ultrawide snapper, and a 2 MP macro shooter.
Under the hood, the upcoming Xiaomi Civi 2 will bring the Snapdragon 778G+ with up to 12 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The phone has a 4,500 mAh battery with 55W fast charging. It will get an in-display fingerprint scanner.
There are also some rumors suggesting the launch of the Xiaomi Civi Pro. Only the time will confirm what Xiaomi really has in tow for this lineup. Until then, Xiaomi keeps cutting the original Civi’s price making it an attractive deal.
