Of course, you need to read “affordable under Apple standards”. The device may become a hit and sell millions of units, especially for those who want to try the iPhone experience with 5G connectivity. Despite the identical design, the phone brings different internals and an iPhone 13 level of performance. However, apart from the similar design, the iPhone SE (2022) isn’t identical to its predecessor. Repairing the new handset shouldn’t be a very easy task for inexperienced people.
iPhone SE (2022) gets an average repairability score
According to the recent disassembly made by PBKreviews, the phone has an average 5.5 out of 10 repairability score. The device needs you to heat the frame of the screen to loosen the adhesives. Then, you’ll need to pry out the screen and remove the screen and connectors. However, after opening the device thinking that this would be just as same as its predecessor, the reviewers found out that the display wasn’t working properly. It turns on, but the touch-input isn’t functioning.

The battery of the new iPhone SE (2022) is also bigger than its predecessor, around 10 percent bigger. To put things in perspective, the old iPhone SE from 2020 had a 1,821 mAh battery. The new iPhone SE (2022) has a 2,018 mAh battery. That is jokingly small if you compare it with Android smartphones. Most of 2022, if not all, comes with at least a 4,000 mAh battery. However, both Operating Systems ran energy usage differently. Anyway, you shouldn’t expect to use the iPhone SE (2022) for an entire day without a charge. Unfortunately, Apple keeps neglecting the battery capacity, and the only device with a really big battery is the iPhone 13 Pro Max.
Despite the low repairability score, we expect the handset to still sell well. You’ll need to be a bit more careful, and certainly shouldn’t be playing with disassembly and assembly. Repairs will be covered for Apple while there is a valid warranty. Once that expires, it’s a better idea to find an authorized service center.
