Samsung’s Galaxy could get Android 13 much sooner than expected

Samsung One UI 5.0 Android 13

Galaxy smartphones could benefit from Android 13 much earlier than usual in 2022. The beta phase should indeed begin in July for users who wish. Of course, this also means that they will be able to test the new version of the manufacturer’s user interface, namely One UI 5.0.

Android 13 is coming towards the end of the year. We can bet on a release at the same time as the Pixel 7 around October. Samsung smartphones should benefit from it from the end of 2022, or even the beginning of 2023 at the latest. However, the beta phase could start much earlier.

Our sources tell us that Samsung could start the open beta testing phase for Android 13 and the accompanying One UI 5.0 update by July. This should give beta testers and the company plenty of time to polish the new firmware for public release at the end of 2022 or early 2023 — if recent history is any indication.

Sammobile, which would not be at its first scoop, indicated that the beta phase of Android 13 could start as early as July on Galaxy smartphones, while it usually does not start until September. Of course, this is only for users who want it.

One UI

The arrival of Android 13 on Galaxy smartphones would of course be accompanied by the new version of the manufacturer’s overlay, namely One UI 5.0. As usual, beta users will have to face bugs in order to offer a stable and correct experience to the general public a few months later. It is also useful for developers to perfect the compatibility of their applications.

SamMobile specifies that a dozen smartphones would be eligible for this beta, so the latest devices, such as the Galaxy S22, S22 + and S22 Ultra. The next foldable smartphones, like the Z Fold 4, could also be in the game. This beta should be available all over the world but not at the same time, keeping a wave system. In parallel, Samsung would still develop One UI 4.1.1, but for Android 12 this time. This version of the overlay is a bit special, since it is intended for its foldable screen smartphones.

Anyway, this beta phase deployed earlier is good news for developers, who will have more time to polish their copy. For Samsung, it is also the guarantee of releasing a stable and well-finished user interface when the time comes. However, for more details in this regard, keep in touch with us.
