At the end of October last year, at a conference for developers, Huawei announced that the development of the proprietary operating system continues and the next stage is the release of HarmonyOS 3.0. The new firmware version is based on three pillars: continuous innovation, a comprehensive upgrade of system capabilities and development tools.
Unfortunately, the conference did not say when HarmonyOS 3.0 will reach devices. But today there is clarity with the deployment schedule for the new firmware iteration. So, now the stage of closed beta testing of the shell is coming to an end; and in May the public beta version will see the light. The firmware will be official in July, and the stable build will launch in September of this year; i.е. almost a year after the announcement of its development.
HarmonyOS 3.0 release schedule and who will get the firmware first
HarmonyOS 3.0 will not bring any revolutionary innovations. Visually, it will undergo cosmetic changes, but it is promised that the logic of interaction and experience will be improved. Particular attention will be on the stability and optimization of work, as well as improving the performance of the system. We assume that the first out-of-the-box devices with HarmonyOS 3.0 will be the flagships of the Huawei Mate 50 series, which will launch in July.
Gizchina News of the week
The release of the beta version of HarmonyOS 3.0 was originally in plans for March; and the stable version of the new operating system was supposed to be released in July; a year after the release of HarmonyOS 2.0.
According to the latest data, the developers had problems, because of which the plans changed. As IT Home writes, the next version of Huawei’s proprietary operating system has not yet passed the developer testing stage; not to mention beta testing.
Last year, Huawei announced HarmonyOS 3.0 Developer Previews to streamline the OS build process, attract developers, and roll out HarmonyOS 3.0 to even more devices. The company has also released API 7 and ArkUI, which together help developers develop applications for the system more efficiently.
China Central Television recently showed off a working version of HarmonyOS 3.0; saying that the update will launch in the near future. The demo showed how to pair a Huawei phone with various smart home devices and control them with simple smartphone actions. For example, when connected to a smart mirror, the screen of the smartphone will appear on the mirror, and you can wash your face or apply makeup while communicating with your interlocutor.
