Huawei officially announced today that it will hold a new product launch conference at 19:00 on the evening of April 28. At this event, the company will launch the new generation Huawei Mate Xs 2. This foldable smartphone will come with some decent upgrades. According to Yu Chengdong, Huawei’s CEO, as a leader in the foldable smartphone market, Huawei continues to break through technical bottlenecks. Huawei boasts of many industry firsts from the Mate X eagle wing folding hinge technology to the Mate X2 patented double-swirl water drop hinge technology, to the vertical seamless folding of the P50 Pocket. In terms of aesthetics, Huawei continues to lead the industry in innovation.
He emphasized: “HUAWEI Mate Xs 2 is the fifth foldable flagship we released, which will surpass everyone’s imagination of folding-screen phones.”
According to the official poster, Huawei Mate Xs 2 seems to inherit the outer folding scheme of the previous generation Mate Xs. This design is very different from the current mainstream inner folding scheme. The screen is placed on the outside of the fuselage, and the whole machine has only one piece of screen.

Huawei pioneered the eagle-wing folding design in the previous generation of Mate Xs. The eagle-wing hinge structure has 100+ precision devices and uses a four-layer structure. The top layer is a screen protection layer of polymer material, and the second layer is a flexible screen. The third layer is a soft rubber support sheet, and the bottom layer is a hinge. This seamlessly supports the screen of the Mate Xs and folds it.

The new hinges are lighter without compromising toughness. Back in 2020, there were reports that Huawei will release the Mate Xs folding screen mobile phone.
