Samsung has successfully introduced the Galaxy S22 series, and now is focusing on the upcoming foldable smartphones. The company left the Galaxy Note series behind, and now, the August window will be occupied by the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Galaxy Z Flip 4. The first leaks are starting to pop out with details for the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 4. According to a recent report, Samsung is expecting to sell double their predecessors – the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3. However, for this, the company will need to introduce significant upgrades and, maybe, achieve a lower price tag. After all, the segment is finally getting more competitors.
According to DSCC’s Ross Young, a source that is familiar with the matters of foldable smartphones says that Samsung wants it’s newly foldable to sell much more than its predecessors. However, this is more than a mere expectation. The company is confident that the new devices can become a hit. It’s preparing to manufacture more than twice as many units during the month of July. So, the company is preparing for good sales. Honestly, it’s a risky move but is one that Samsung can easily handle. Furthermore, the company has been selling more and more foldable smartphones every year. So it’s natural for them to expect the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 to be strong contenders.
Samsung's Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 phone production for July are more than double what it was for the Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3. Pointing to a very strong launch. Might see a price cut.

Interestingly enough, Ross Young is also considering cheaper smartphones this year. That would be a good reason for more users to join this segment, which has been a niche segment in the past few years. After all, not everyone is easily spending more than $1,200 on a smartphone. It makes sense for Samsung to try to make its foldable smartphones cheaper. After all, Oppo Find N 5G and Vivo X Fold are strong competitors for the Z Fold and are considerably cheaper. The only problem, for now, is that none of these devices is available outside of China.
Galaxy Z Fold 4 alleged specifications
Samsung’s technology for foldable smartphones probably has matured enough to become cheaper. The new Galaxy Z Fold 4 is expected to bring a new generation of the company’s under-display camera technology. However, the new camera won’t have an impressively high resolution, but it’ll still pose an upgrade from 4 MP to 10 MP. The Z Fold 4 will also bring the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus. Unlike previous rumors, the phone won’t have a slot for the S Pen. It will still support the stylus just like its predecessor. The device will also bring a 108 MP camera.
