Infinix is gearing up to introduce a new smartphone dubbed Infinix Smart 6. The device will, obviously, serve as a successor for the Infinix Smart 5 and will bring low-end specifications. It’s an Android Go smartphone, although it’s not being sold as one. It brings Android 11 Go Edition and has Infinix XOS 7.6 on top. Of course, this isn’t the best device for hardware enthusiasts but should be affordable enough for users that aren’t very demanding.
Infinix Smart 6 alleged specifications
The Infinix Smart 6 packs an Unisoc SC9863A, that’s quite old chipset from an era when Unisoc didn’t bother giving friendly names to its chipset. This chipset is far from being optimized for the current era with a 28 nm architecture. That’s an architecture that was predominant in 2014 and 2015 and isn’t comparable to the current 6 nm, 5 nm, and 4 nm used on mainstream smartphones. This chipset brings 4 x ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocked at up to 1.6 GHz and 4 x ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocked at up to 1.2 GHz. The phone also has a PowerVR IMG8322 GPU. In terms of RAM, the phone comes with 2 GB but you can expand it virtually by 2 GB. When it comes to storage, it is available in variants of 32 GB and 64 GB. You can expand both of them with a micro SD card.
Gizchina News of the week
The Infinix Smart 6 flaunts a 6.6-inch HD+ Display with 500 nits of peak brightness. There is also a notch for the 5 MP selfie snapper. Moving around to the back, the phone has a Silver Ion antibacterial material and brings a fingerprint scanner with a square-shaped camera island. Curiously, there are four holes, but only two have a camera inside. There is a primary 8 MP camera, and an unspecified depth sensor. The third hole is for the LED flash, whereas the fourth is there just because yes.
Might be Infinix’s cheapest smartphone in India
The Infinix Smart 6 draws its powers from a 5,000 mAh battery, but don’t expect long hours of usage with this processor. The phone will also take more than 2 hours to charge with a micro USB port. The phone will be sold in India, but the price remains a mystery. Honestly, we expect this package of specs to come under $100. Otherwise, it will be a big failure. According to the Flipkart promo page, the phone will be launched “at a never before price”.
Infinix has been trying to capture a portion of the Indian market with mid-range smartphones and low-end devices. Let’s see how much it will evolve in the coming months. Worth noting that it also sells Smart TVs and Laptops in India nowadays.
