PlayStation users signed to PlayStation Plus in its current state, are receiving new emails from Sony. The e-mail shares some of the highlights of the upcoming revamp in PlayStation Plus services. To those unaware, Sony has revealed its “Project Spartacus” with a new PlayStation Plus that offers many extras and absorbs PS Now. There will be three tiers of membership options – PS Plus Essential, PS Plus Extra, and PS Plus Deluxe. The PS Plus Essential is basically the current form available of PlayStation Plus service. It gives players access to online multiplayer and a couple of free games every month. As per the e-mail, it will be easy for current subscribers to select other plans.
PS Plus Extra provides users with access to more features. It includes a catalog of over 100 PS4 and PS5 Games. The PS Plus Premium adds more features such as PS3 games through cloud streaming. There are also a bunch of classic games. The mysterious list of games probably includes games from the original PlayStation, PS2, and PSP generations as well as free game trials. Obviously, PlayStation will not expand its streaming service like magic to some areas. The company intends to expand the service, however, users without streaming will get another option. There is a special PlayStation Plus Deluxe offer. It will be priced lower when compared to Premium.
Gizchina News of the week
The PlayStation Plus Deluxe will include a catalog of classic games from PS2, PS1, and PSP generations to download and play. There will also be some time-limited game trials. The only missing piece is the PlayStation 3 games through streaming. There is still hope for PS3 gaming through emulation. Sony is reportedly developing an emulator that probably will only work with the PS5. However, it’s promising for those who want to enjoy PS3 games.
It will be easy to adjust your PlayStation Plus subscription between the tiers
It won’t be so hard for current subscribers to upgrade to the new tiers. According to an email “users will be able to easily upgrade to a new plan of benefits at any moment. The only requirement will be a proportional payment which is the difference between your current plan and the one that you seek. It will be adjusted accordingly with the remaining time of your subscription.”
Sony Interactive Entertainment has confirmed a regional launch in select markets in Asia on May 23. Unfortunately, the exact list is not confirmed yet. The new service is PlayStation’s take on the Xbox GamePass a powerful service.
