Redmi K50S, K50S Pro first exposure: uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen1+

Redmi K50 series

A recent leak reveals that Redmi K50S/Pro and Xiaomi 12T/Pro have now appeared in the Mi Code and IMEI databases along with their SoCs. According to reports, these devices will be official in August and October respectively. From the code, the Redmi K50S series will have three models. The K50S and K50S Pro will be basically the same as the K50 series. These smartphones will use the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon and MediaTek Dimensity chips. However, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ on this model will be produced by TSMC. This means that the Redmi K50S series may become Redmi’s high-end model.

The Redmi K50S series has appeared in the IMEI database before. Judging from the model, the K50S series seems to be the Xiaomi Mi 12T launched in the global market.

Redmi K50S / Pro appeared on Xiaomi Mi Code

With the information on Mi Code, we can basically confirm that the Redmi K50S Pro and Xiaomi Mi 12T Pro / 12T Pro HyperCharge will come with the sm8475 (or Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+) from TSMC. This will be the only Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ model that the company will have on the market.

In the code above, we can see that the codename of the device with model L12A (Redmi K50S, Mi 12T) is “Plato”. However, “Plato” is entirely based on the MediaTek mobile platform.

In the code below, we can see that some of Xiaomi’s new phones will use Qualcomm’s next-generation SoC, which is the Snapdragon 8 Gen1+.

Redmi K50S

According to previous reports, Xiaomi 12S, 12S Pro, and MIX FOLD 2 will use the TSMC version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen1+. The last flagship phone this year will be the L12.

These codes in the Mi Code also prove that the new Xiaomi phone will use a Snapdragon x475 (probably 8 Gen 1+ modem) platform. The codename for this chip is “Ephemera”. This confirms that the mayfly is the L12, which is Mi 12T / Redmi K50 Pro.

Xiaomi 12T

The conventional regional models are:

  • 22081212CL12 “Mayfly” Redmi K50S Pro (China)
  • 22071212ACL12A “Plato” Redmi K50S (China)
  • 22071212AGL12A “Plato” Xiaomi 12T (Global)
  • 22081212UGL12U “Mayfly” Xiaomi 12T Pro Super Fast Charge Version (Global)
  • 22081212GL12 “Mayfly” Xiaomi 12T Pro (Global)
  • 22081212RL12 “Mayfly” Xiaomi 12T Pro (Japan)

That is to say, the Xiaomi 12T / Pro and Redmi K50S / Pro series models may not arrive in India for now. This is because there is no letter “I” anywhere in the code. There are also reports that the Xiaomi 12T series will use the MediaTek Dimensity flagship processor, while the Xiaomi 12T Pro will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ flagship platform.
