Developpers from the WABetaInfo resource found in the beta version of the WhatsApp application a mention of a feature that will allow users to work with one account on several mobile devices.

According to the screenshot received in the beta version of the WhatsApp application, a new feature “Register device as a companion” in the section “Associated devices” is being prepared. This means that one of the phones under the user account will be the main one, and the rest will be secondary or “companions”. To connect a second gadget as a companion, you will need to open an application on it; display a QR code on the screen and scan it from the main device. After that, messages on devices will be synchronized, even with end-to-end encryption.

At the moment, connecting devices to WhatsApp accounts is already available, but only PCs can act as them, and the device running iOS or Android remains the main one. The ability to connect smartphones or tablets was discovered in the beta version of the WhatsApp client for Android; and it is not yet certain that a similar feature will be available for iOS. Meta, which owns the service, did not comment on the matter.

Gizchina News of the week

The team behind the popular WhatsApp messenger has begun rolling out a new feature to users. We are talking about one of the innovations announced among other things last week. During the announcement, there were reports that features will become available in the coming weeks. And now, one of them appeared in the stable version of the WhatsApp mobile application; an increased number of participants in an audio call.

Now users have the opportunity to make audio calls in groups of up to 32 participants – the limit has increased four times. In addition, according to the developers, thanks to the new interface, making audio calls has become easier than chatting. To do this, WhatsApp changes the way the call participants show up on the screen.

Also, WhatsApp is reportedly developing a new plan for business accounts with the aim of offering subscribers several additional features. One will support up to 10 linked devices per account; more than double the current limit and allowing more people in the business; to use the same official contact to communicate with customers.

It’s possible that this upcoming subscription could include other additions beyond the new 10 device limit, but there’s no word yet. More features for WhatsApp Business for Android and iOS will be available later.
