The ED (Enforcement Directorate) has seized assets worth over a whopping INR 5,551 crore of Xiaomi India for “illegal outward remittances.” The department announced this on Saturday, April 30. The department has seized the assets because Xiaomi Technology India Private Limited (aka Xiaomi India) violated the Indian foreign exchange law. Notably, the department has seized money from four accounts of Xiaomi India citing illegal outward remittances. In other words, the Chinese smartphone company was sending a huge amount to its parent group in its home country.
