According to Ross Young, CEO of analyst firm Display Supply Chain Consultants and a well-known industry insider, the future Pixel Fold and the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will share a common feature: their internal screen. According to his information, both smartphones from Google and Samsung will use an internal screen of a similar size, but this will not prevent the devices from being very different.
Indeed, although their internal screen is the same, their external screen will not offer the same ratio. As previous leaks have hinted, the Google Pixel Fold will be more compact than Samsung’s popular smartphone. We would be closer to the 8.4:9 ratio of the Oppo Find N than the rectangular 22.5:18 ratio of the Galaxy Z Fold 3.
According to Ross Young, the Pixel Fold will use a 5.8-inch external display, while the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will offer a 6.19-inch display. Since the smartphones use the same internal display, that means the Pixel Fold will be significantly larger than the Galaxy Z Fold 4, which will retain the elongated look of its predecessor.
