Microsoft really wants you to have an account for Windows 11. Very soon, it will be impossible to install the OS using your local account. This concerns the Pro version, since the Home version already imposes this restriction.
According to Windows Latest, version 22H2 of Windows 11 will impose this process. Without an Internet connection, the operating system simply cannot be installed on your machine.
On the Home version, Windows 11 already requires the use of a Microsoft account. When the user installs the OS for the first time, he must be connected to the Internet to enter his email address. Unable to use a local account, as was the case for Windows 10.
This brings advantages, such as OneDrive (very practical when using several terminals) or an automatic connection to Microsoft software, namely the Xbox application or Outlook. However, not everyone wants to have an online account to use Windows 11. Users have always managed to find tricks to have a local account, such as having no internet during installation or still delete his Microsoft account after launching the OS for the first time. However, Microsoft takes great care in removing these alternatives.

You will need a Microsoft account to use Windows 11
In the near future, it will therefore be necessary to have a Microsoft account to use the Microsoft tool. This may surprise some users, but it actually makes sense. Google, Apple… all the big tech companies now require an online ID. A way to make life more practical for the user, but also to make it easier to use data and strengthen security.
At this time, the requirement for a Microsoft account only appears to apply to new installs. What about Windows 11 Pro that use a local account today? Will these have to become an online accounts? We will have to wait to find out. As a reminder, this big 22H2 update should land during the month of October on all versions of the OS.
Microsoft continues to experience difficulties with the distribution of the new operating system Windows 11. This is evidenced by fresh AdDuplex statistics. As of April 26, 2022, Windows 11 Stable was installed on 19.7% of Microsoft PCs worldwide, up just 0.3% from March results.
The share of test versions of Win 11 Insider in April was 0.7%, while in March it was 0.6%. Thus, the total share of Windows 11 is now 20.4%. The growth of Windows 11 has completely stopped, and the lack of growth of a fresh OS has not been observed from Microsoft for several years.
