Startup Nothing, led by the hand of OnePlus co-founder Karl Pei, is inexorably approaching the announcement of its first smartphone. Already hinted at the date of its release – June 9th. And the company is also actively forcing the theme of the branded shell, which will be available on Nothing Phone (1). Two weeks ago, the company launched its own launcher, Nothing Launcher, which only a small number of users could try out. For some reason, only the owners of the flagships of Google and Samsung were among the privileged. Now the company has released an update that expanded the list of supported smartphones and offered a number of improvements.
In particular, it is said that owners of smartphones with Android 11 and a newer version of the green robot can install Nothing Launcher. Among the changes mentioned is easy access to the wallpaper changer tool, a link to download wallpapers and ringtones in the settings, as well as the appearance of a tutorial menu on the first launch.
Nothing Launcher received its first update
In the meantime, the first reviews of Nothing Launcher began to appear on Google Play, and among them there are many critical ones. There were many who considered the launcher primitive, raw and miserable, and also blamed for poor functionality.
Gizchina News of the week
The Nothing company continues to develop its projects, in particular, the Nothing OS launcher. Recall that it was introduced at the end of April, as a beta version of the Nothing OS shell. That is, now the software can install as a launcher; and later the company’s first smartphone will be available, where the same software will act as a shell.
And if initially only owners of the Samsung Galaxy S21, Galaxy S22, Google Pixel 5 and Pixel 6 could try Nothing OS, now the launcher is available for all smartphones with Android 11 and Android 12. You can now install “Nothing” on any smartphone with Android 11 or 12. Nothing OS is becoming more widespread.
The support extension is part of a recent update based on user feedback. The update contains a number of changes, but the developers do not particularly share the details; focusing primarily on the ability to install the software on almost any modern smartphone with Android.
At the end of March, Nothing announced that its next product would be a smartphone called the Nothing Phone (1). Oneplus co-founder Carl Pei, who created Nothing, did not reveal details; but the company has released a beta version of Nothing Launcher on the Google Play store for some smartphones.
